Major Danes

 Muddy Paws Crawlin'
Back to Full Blog

Photobucket

Hey Streamers~! Well... we have no snow (for today - but more expected tomorrow!?!) so that means with the melt... comes the MUD! The danes hate this time of year! Luna... for reasons of having to lower himself to actually touch MUD... and Ava (the dirty-girl!) because she has no intention of parting with the mud once she gets in crammmmmmed into her toes! She loves it and I SWEAR she hits every mud patch in the yard?! Each trip outside is followed by me taking the rag to all eight of those muddy marauders - charging in to defile my white carpet!!!! Needless to say... I get a bit obsessive about the muddy season... but am 100% glad to see it knocking at our door!
As par for the course, muddy yards mean plenty of indoor PLAY... so I enjoy the play time vids of the majordanes pack and have a great crawl Streamers!!!

hi Dalpha! How are you?

We do the same, cleaning Lindsay's paws off when she comes into the house. Then we wait for the muddy season to end and steam the carpets.

Then the next day it rains again.

Sort of like ol' Faithful at Yellowstone.

The dog barking sounds totally got my BF's dog. She was all running around and looking. It was cute. She is really good about letting her paws get wiped when she comes in.
Hope you are having a great Saturday!

That, my dear lady is why I have a cat AND keep her indoors. No muddy paws, just Hubby's muddy feet.

Dalpha, I so miss you, I feel like I already know you and you are a major part of my life. I am SO dealing with the muddy problem right now, my deaest 2nd half today went off and put down some amazing wood chips around the muddiest parts of the back dog run. We have a three dog door system from the outdoor mud, but it is still a challenge.

My sheepdog, who is normally shaved down this time of year, just bit my beloved caretaker during grooming, that will not happen again. Now it is up to me, he is neurotic.

You get to a point with dogs with issues, but we still love the Brinkley, hopefully no one will push his buttons...he has many.
love your dog lovin'

Hi Belllllllaaaaa! I am well!
I had to STOP posting about the snow - started to sound like
a broken record! Oh crud! Did you have a nice weekend with
your better half last weekend? I hope so!
Photobucket
I am busy prepping High School Musical this week. The show is in town on tour...
and I am afraid I WREEEEEK of teen spirit! Help? This weekend I have been working on workshop proposals. I have one for the next several months and they start next week. Then I am waiting to hear if one proposal was accepted for Puerto Rico in Oct! If yes... then I will be singing.... BRING ON THE SUN!

The last thing on my plate happened quite suddenly. A neighbor boy (early teens) and friend of my boy... is staying here this weekend. He was in a terrible argument with his Dad last Weds and his father has been emotionally abusive since then. Locked him out of the house last night, refuses to answer the phone and talk to him, and this afternoon said to "find someplace else to be." I don't know how to help except support and give him food and shelter until he can work it out. I think it is an unfair situation and I he is a good kid.
Sad really.

Now... I "gotta get my head in the game" and "bop-bop-bop" around the stream... so I'm "breaking free" for now! <<<---- ALL High School Musical songs!?! They haunt me even when the radio is OFF!
Hope you had a great night!

If you have a sec... I'd love to catch up on life with you!
Catch you soon!

OH NO! hahah Anex? The next day it rains again? Bummer.
Photobucket

I think I saw that there is a chance of rain here for the next 5 days. A week ago, that would have all been snow?!! I guess I'll take the rain and invest in a good steam machine! Dang it! I knew I should have bought the one I saw advertised on late night television info-merical last year!!!!

RT! I changed up the dog barks
and still the Stream Pooches are going bananas!

Again... it is all part of my evil mind control plan!

First the dogs of the stream... then I'll take over the WORLD!!!
(insert evil laugh here!)

Actually, I tried to mix it up a little on the barking
so that I would reduce the amount of frantic pups out there...
but alas... it is not to be! Again, I have NO litmus test for it as the majordanes
just lay there and do NADA when I try to test it on them!
NO HELP I tell you... no help at all!

Dalpha - great videos!!!! I had to catch up from last week; love all the pics. Yes age gets the big dogs. We had a big scare with our Rusty this week but it looks like he is responding to medication - he is only three and the vet said he has a congenital problem that just showed up in his legs and pelvis but he is feeling alot better now. Have a goood week - spring is in the air - June

Sherry - even the friggggggin' cat got out today?!!
I swear he is like Hanible Lector from Silence of the Lambs (the book version)
just biding his time until the really savy guard named Charlie is called away...
and he knows his chance for escape has just DRAMATICALLY increased!
Insert Numa.
In place of Hanible, but with the same master mind, genius plotting...
he waits til an unsuspecting neighborhood visitor walks through the door -
and like a bolt of lighting, he is OUT and feral in a matter of MINUTES!
That cat has NO idea how good he has it!

Oh n.! Miss you too woman!
I love hearing adventures from you and your pack!

I have no fancy dog door system
but I do want to landscape parts of the yard this summer.
I thought wood chips would be a great addition to several areas
and if/when Ava loses her sight again, she will have a textual way of
knowing where she is in the space. Then... IF I could train them to pee
only on the wood chips, I could start building back toward a healthy lawn!
Does it sound too crazy to come true?
Let's all give a moment of silence and send a prayer.

Photobucket
Poor Brinkley! Too many buttons. I know I watch Luna carefully
trying to make sure people are safe around him. He just gets so worked up!
Yesterday, he was on guard around the house... heard noises, and then barking turned
into this tortured whine. I knew then, something was up. I saw the neighbor dogs from down the block out running off leash across the street. They escaped again, so I brought them back. Luna was worked up because first he admires rules above all else, and DOGS off leash in the neighborhood are WAY against the rules. They might decide to come after his babies and steal them... then what?! What a nut! Those loose dogs are SO sweet, and each time I walk them back home, the owners just YELL and the dogs cower in fear. Very sad.

Well, send me the spec on that 3 dog door system and I might be
able to work it in somehow!Photobucket Have a great weekend! I head to the Historic State Theatre
again tomorrow for the final night and ASL performance of High School Musical.
It is like I purposely torture myself by reliving that time in my life over and over... More fodder for therapy.

Much love your way n.!

Mouse! Did you let that paintin' kitty in here?
She has been chasing some imaginary bug in here all night
and the place is ransacked! Then the majordanes starting chasing her
and called for the interior decorator to come first thing in the morning!

Uncle! UNCLE!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

No - seriously Mouse! I am having a great week.
The mud will dry - I JUST know it will!
Then the green grass and smell of cut lawns
will fill my days for an all too brief moment..
and then welcome to winter again (we decided to skip
fall and get right to the good stuff!). I think I'm channeling Walter
right now! I have to stop watching his youtube clips!
Well? Just one more! Crap - I love that cranky ol' codger
of a puppet! Friggin' talented Jeff Dunham - dumba$$.

(warning... offensive language ahead. DO NOT watch this video at work!)

Have a great weekend Mouse!

June! Thank heavens life is looking up
for your youngest! Just the word congenital
gives people the heebee-geebees!
Friends of mine went through the
extensive training to get a Hearing Dog
and she died from kidney failor. Just never
screened for it in her and it slipped by.

Thousands went into training her for certifications
and in the end only love went into the moment of her passing.
They kept her home and just stayed with her until the end.
She went in about a week. They are still heartbroken over it.

I saved these muddy paws for you.
Much love to you out there and thank you for sharing your sun!

Did you happen to see the Oprah show on I think Thursday but not sure. Anyway it was about Puppy Mills. Good show to bring awareness of this to millions of people!
I feel for you with the mud, and having white carpet....Hope the mud is gone soon.

Hey there DiXie!
You are always welcome with the majordanes pack!
Glad you feel it coming through the miles!

I saw excerpts and read parts of the show on OPRAH.com.
The Great Dane Rescue of the Ozarks (friends of majordanes)
had a list-serv email sent between them. When it arrived to me -
the emailer started on a mighty impassioned soap box talking about
the injustices canines face in this world today. And then she said...
"But then I went over to majordanes and saw this photo of Ava... and all
was right with the world again."

I was speechless and teary-eyed.

Ava and Luna are both rescued dogs.
They were part of the lucky percentage out
there that get a second chance.
Oprah did a great thing for the ones who
are waiting for that second chance.

Thanks DiXie!
All kinds of love to you and
have a great crawl.

Heide! Ahhh Spring!
That ellusive time of year that
just gets hopelessly lost
on the way to MN's door!

It has been a wild week of weather here.
Snow-thunderstorms were just part of the fun!
Oiy... send help soon or the US may annex us to Canada
before we know it!

Poor Dalpha and those precious Danes! It got cold enough here last night to have a nice fire this morning, and most likly in the morning too. (last fires for the spring I'm afraid) We have NO idea what you guys are up against.......but NO Canada annexation......

Years ago, my Uncle and Aunt from Cedar Rapids had a lake house in Clear lake Mn. I would love to go there as a kid....Sweet, sweet memories....

Take care, and hopefully MN will open that door to Spring soon....
