Before Majordanes expanded to 3... Ava and Luna had a picture sent into Danes Online. It is now featured - first photo of the pile - this week on the photo link provided below.
BUT to do justice to Nene, I have added a lazy afternoon shot of them taken last week during nap time.
I also added the photos from the drive-in last night. I took only the girls (left Luna at home to lounge on the comfy carpet and couches... while to girls endured the rough ruggedness of the drive-in accommodations), and they did pretty well.
I walked them before the show started to give them a good stretch.
Nene did SO well! Dogs came out to bark their little barks and big barks too... but the Majordane girls were unflinching through it all. BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! However, squirrels are another story! Eek. Nene and Luna are ridding the county one squirrel at a time. Nothing bloody, just scaring them to death until they head for the HILLS and never return!!!
Also, this week I want to send healing energy to the Misfits. They lost a very special member of their Kreature Krewe and our hearts here at Majordanes, go out to them.

Hi, Dalpha, I am inside cooling off after sweating in the barn and I was so refreshed by all those beautiful Danes. They are so addicting aren't they? Just like horses...I think.
Someone said to me when I bought my first hose in MN, that someday I will have several. I thought then, "Why would I need more then one?" The seasoned horse people know much. luv ya, n.

Miss Lou! Thanks for the well wishes for a great Sunday! We are in thick humidity today. Ugh. Staying inside unless I HAVE to leave.
I have a feeling Drive-Ins are making a come back. Maybe a nice investment? The one we've been going to is PACKED every weekend, and more cars come in for the midnight movie as some cars leave after the first show.
You'd have to do the concessions right with good food and plenty of options, spray early for mosquitos so the little buggers don't drive away your business, then make sure it's safe by hiring a security guard to enforce park policy, and finally ensure you get movies that appeal to wide range of ages.
Hmmm? Work 4 nights a week for the summer and you're set? Wait a minute? I should take my own advice on this one! hah! Have a great week.

n., you are a braver woman than I am... out in the barn on a HOT day! We are dripping of humidity here so I put together some paperwork and edited a vid of the danes for next week.
It's true I was told by the head of the Ozark Rescue that three is the best number for danes. I seriously thought she was crazy and then eventually it comes around to be true. Next time I will just nod and remember: though my mind is full of doubt right now, I have been wrong before.
As I walked the girls around the park last night before the movie started I was stopped occasionally by questions. Mostly they ask the breed, but then I see kids with wide eyes and astonished looks on their faces. I give a smile back trying to see Ava and Nene through their eyes for just that moment... and thinking they must LOOK huge to them. Then we slowly meander down the path to face even more looks and questions. Sometimes I stop for the people that just need to know more about them and it is then that I am willing to tell their story.
It usually starts when someone mentions they've never seen a white dane before... and the lesson starts.
I talk about how they were throw away pups once upon a time (because they were born with sensory problems and the wrong coloring) but much has been done to stop this in recent years.
*The fact that they come from rescue, that they've been through neglect, abuse, or abandonment, and still they love.
At the end of walks like those I look at my danes differently. They've helped educate and represent their breed in those moments and allowed people to see them for the wonderful dogs they are.
I was so proud of them last night. No matter the size of the dog, they were content to walk on and ignore the bait to engage. Sometimes I am even amazed at all they've been through and still manage to hold such an amazing capacity for peace within them.
So many lessons in a single walk around the drive-in.

I used to love the Drive-In, but most were torn down years ago, and what a shame that was to see happen. It would be nice to see them make a comeback! I think the last movie I saw on the outdoor drive-in (with the kids in tow) was E.T., and that was awesome to see at the Drive-In~! Have a great week, Dalph!

Anex... were they kissy memories?
Here's the website for the one we go to! [[LINK:Vali-Hi,http://www.valihi.com/]]
Growing up, my hometown had a drive in (the screen and projector housing is still there today!) , but it closed long before I got old enough to enjoy kissing at them. I'll have to ask my Mom about that one to see if she has an scandalous stories of the drive-in!!
I'm telling you, people long for a little bit of nostalgia... resurrect a drive-in near you Anex! Bring back the love!
Thanks Bella! I know - what a bummer the drive-ins have gone under?! I have no idea how this one is getting it so right?! They charge $7.50 /person for three movies (930p/dusk, 12a, 2a), kids 12 and under are free, tailgating is welcomed, no fireworks allowed, pets welcome, and they broadcast the audio on pre-selected radio stations (FM and AM)... 400 cars minimum Friday and Saturday nights.
It rocks! I put the web site up in the reply to Anex if you want to see it. Have a great week Bella. Much love!

Misfits! haha Ooooo, I knew I should have called! I wasn't planning on getting THAT close to KC, but I am notorious for gaining serious ground on long distance trips!
This shot was taken just over the border in IA by 830a the day I drove down. Ava made the trip with me to greet Nene (we shortened the spelling to match the Hawaiian Goose) and usher her back to MN.
I was sitting at the second meet and greet spot with little more than an hour to spare, thinking wonderful thoughts in your direction if it's any consolation? There just wouldn't have been enough time to visit and I worried that if we met up, my resolve to make it home by sunset would tumble and fall! (CHuck the Plan - I'm Staying!!)
I am very excited to hear there will be a special commemoration for Azure at the new digs. I have been going through her vids at youtube and laughing then crying. I edited a new vid this afternoon and the song is one I picked with Azure in mind, (Ann Reed - Heroes, know that one? It rocks!). A special tribute is just what she needs! Can't wait.
Please come on up anytime. The guest room is waiting and I am off until the first week in August! Just tell me when. Pick a weekend and give me a call - you have my numbers. Looking forward to it!

Loved the pictures of the danes. Boy I am jealous. We no longer have a drive-in. Haven't been to one in years.

I haven't even heard the word spoken in more than ten year, and it must be over 20 since I last sent to one!
Boy has this post brought back some memories!! Woohoo!
Hey, loved the photos too (sorry, got distracted by the pictures in my head!)

It is sooooo good to see NeeNee rounding out the pack. All looks quite wonderful in your neck of the woods.
The MisFits are doing better. We have some special plans to memorialize the crazy little beast who stole our hearts in the new house.
A little bird tells me you were in K.C. and DIDN'T CALL US!!!! ARGH!!!!
Well, I guess that means we will just have to come see MajorDanes for ourselves
